In 1999 Pastor Rod Carver was holding Bible Studies in his home and wondering how to reach the Coastal Bend with basic, verse by verse teachings. This is when he received a call from a representative from Calvary Satellite Network (CSN International) wondering if he would be interested in helping start a radio station in the area. After a whole lot of ground work, land purchases, studies and applications, the station was approved by the FCC as a 25,000 watt full power FM station. The call letters were changed to KSGR, to represent that initial vision of providing solid Bible teaching in the area or "Solid Ground Radio". The tower, studio and offices were ready to go in 2001. The studio was initially on Flynn Parkway and later moved to the campus of Calvary Chapel Coastlands on Rodd Field Road on the Southside of Corpus Christi in late 2004.
Until 2008 KSGR was still owned by CSN International. Calvary Chapel Coastlands received several gifts which allowed them to make an offer to purchase KSGR outright that year. Coastlands Radio was incorporated and received the assets of the radio station to run as a separate independent organization. It has since become more of a community station, broadcasting local and national Bible teachers, covering local events and prompting concerts and outreach events throughout the Coastal Bend.
It has been a blessing to see KSGR used not only to promote the Kingdom of God but to also unite like minded, Bible believing disciples throughout the Coastal Bend.
